Okay, so I was getting really fed up the other day. I was just scribbling randomly in pencil on my friends book and this other person was just talking on end while I was. Oh, but she wasn't talking about anything I was that interested in, it just made me frustrated. And don't tell me to just ignore it because it really is quite pointless to take note of it because I'm not the type of person to ignore things like that.
So I was going to draw a chibi in a style that I had learnt somewhere (by the way, with a neck and nose, I don't care). I was playing around and drawing upside-down the proportion lines and when I started, the girl said in a as-a-matter-of-fact tone, "You draw it like that? I don't draw like that. I start straight away with pen, and trust me I drew something the other day and it looks A LOT BETTER."
At first, I was thinking, "I really don't care you know." because this person is always just being really know-it-all. But then she started saying things like, "Chibis don't have necks, no neck no nose..." and the rest is a bit of a haze but she was basically criticizing everything I was doing and this really bothers me because in my eyes everything she was saying was just stupid.
I mean, you can say that chibis don't have necks or noses or anything, but I get REALLY annoyed when someone criticizes my work like that. It's ok if you just say things like, "you can work on the proportioning a bit.." or something like that which actually needs to be that way for the artwork to look right but I get REEEEALLY irritated when someone criticizes my STYLE.
Really, overall art isn't something about sticking strictly to some little rules like it's the law or something, it's about unleashing your imagination and drawing whatever you feel isn't it?
I mean, you can say that you have to draw something and proportion in a certain way, everyone just has their own STYLE of drawing.
Ok, you can say this is annoying, it's just that every time something happens and it bothers me, I just have to write it or say it somewhere to get it off my back.
Thank you for reading it, I guess it is a bit of a waste of time...
